How bloody dry I am (after a visit to Drago Centro)

Wow, so I’m just the Worst. Blogger. Ever. I feel like I should pay child support to poor HungryHungryHanh. Or at least buy it an expensive toy in a lame attempt to show how sorry I am for not spending quality time with it.

It’s been months. No excuse, so let’s get on with it.

It’s that time of year when Hanh goes dry and vows to not drink alcohol for the month of March. Yes, you’re right, I did that in February last year, so I’m adding three more days for 2011 because I’m giving my liver extra TLC. Or I’m a masochist.

Naturally, for such an endeavor I had to fortify myself with a couple last sips on Feb. 28, so I was pleased to finally catch up with my friend @theminty at one of my favorite places, Drago Centro (seriously, so affordable with their all-day Happy Hour menu) in the company of @Vxronica @JoeMeehan and @princessleah.

Since Minty was about to hare off to England (pip pip!), it was only right that I bid bon voyage with a bloody good menu — the Puro Sangue martini and the Blue Point oysters. Both feature blood orange “caviar” that have exactly the right texture — firm, but yielding just enough to burst with a pop.

Trying to describe caviar always reminds me of Goldie Hawn in this clip from that 1987 comedy classic “Overboard.” The first 25 seconds is the pertinent part, but feel free to watch the rest:

Goldie Hawn schools you on caviar

So back to the martini: Karlsson’s vodka, Solerno blood orange, honey and the caviar. Super light and refreshing, and thus dangerous because I wanted to down about 10 of these. But this was my last hurrah for the month, not my last meal, so I only indulged in two.

I also love me some briny oysters, so I had four Blue Points. Yes, I slurped. I also had the classic Kobe beef sliders and the duck flatbread.

Hmm, looking back on this post, I can see that to keep myself continuing to write, I’m going to have to invest in a better camera. These pictures just make me sad. So delicious but so blurry!

No snappy wrap-up. Here’s where to go:
